The ColumbusArts.com Artist Directory allows visual, performing and literary artists to create a profile and portfolio to showcase their work—for free—and enables art enthusiasts to easily search for and connect with them. Our monthly ColumbusArts.com artist profile series features interviews with some of the many talented individuals who make up central Ohio’s thriving creative community.

For this issue, our marketing intern, Elly Norton, interviewed local artist Mike Siculan, a skilled puppeteer, performer and collector to learn more about his work and performances known as Pupaphobia.

“The name Pupaphobia , the fear of puppets, came about as I did live demonstrations and noticed a number of  people, younger ones in particular were terrified of marionettes. So  my friend and fellow performer Franco Ruffini  and I have set out to show that marionettes are not really scary at all – just fascinating.”

Catch a signature moment of the Wexner Center’s 25th Anniversary Season this month with the world premiere of the theater is a blank page April 23–26. The project pairs theater innovators SITI Company with renowned visual artist Ann Hamilton; both have longstanding relationships with the Wex—and, more recently, with each other.
